Bobby Knight Top 10

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Bobby Knight will forever be controversial. Love him or hate him, he didn’t care. Maybe that’s what made him great. Maybe not. Some of his “moments” are memorialized here in a Sports Center Top 10. If I were him, I’d be embarrassed. But, I’m not. As John Wooden stated it, one of “the greatest teachers of the game.” That praise resonates with me because it comes from one of the greatest coaches of all time, in any sport. Enjoy the clips. I have to say I love the chair episode. Imagine being a ref then. They had to be saying, “Ok, whatta we do now?”

Friday, February 1st, 2008

1.05% APR. Wow. That is an incredibly low rate. Let’s see - you can finance that new Harley and put your cash in a bank CD and make money! Let’s thank Harley. This financing offer that we announced earlier this month is a Harley deal. And, when it’s done, it’s done. This is the last weekend to take advantage of 1.05% APR financing on select new 2008 Harleys. Don’t let this pass you by. You’ll kick yourself. Or, you should.

Here’s the high points of the deal. 1.05% APR for 36 months (in some cases up to 60 months) with 10% down payment. The financing offer is through Eaglemark Savings Bank on approved credit as a the lawyers make us say, some applicants may not qualify.

Are you more of a visual person? Then check out our commercial here.

Last weekend, so come on down. ‘Cause when it’s gone, it’s gone!

POW - More Brake Light Is a Good Thing

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

One of the new columns for 2008 is this POW - Product of the Week. It’s being ghost written by me on behalf of a product expert. Ok, really. I can do this. Just don’t ask me to ring you out on the register.

This week’s product is a no-brainer. I can’t tell you the number of bikes I see without the brake light module installed. We put them on all new bikes we sell when we set the bike up. That’s how sure we are that you should have it. Formally referred to as the “Auxiliary Running Light/Brake Light/Turn Signal Conversion Kit,” this little gem turns your rear turn signals into two additional brake lights. So, when you brake, you’ve got three lights instead of one. One of the biggest causes of accidents is the car not seeing that you are braking and taps (or worse) your rear end. When that happens, generally it screws up your day. So, if you don’t have this accessory, call us and make an appointment with Julian or Dan to have it installed. It’s pretty easy with no wires to cut.

Want to check out the official Harley word, here are the links:

Read on. There’s a coupon below from Jimmy and the boys on this.

Coupon - Free Install on Brake Light

Catchy title, right? Julian and Dan thought that up. And, they’re real proud of it too. So, doesn’t need much explaining. Bring your ride in for a brake light module, officially know as the “Auxiliary Running Light/Brake Light/Turn Signal Conversion Kit” and our boys will install it for FREE. That’s right, buy the kit from Julian or Dan and they’re going to strong arm one of the techs into installing it for free. Amazing what a batch of homemade cookies from Julian’s wife will do for us all. Hurry, this offer won’t last. We’re thinkin’ through February. But, really, don’t wait because you’ll forget or we’ll forget. You know the routine. Call for an appointment now. SC 421-9600 x2 or GV 768-9500 x2.

Is Your Money Safe?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Sub-prime mortgages. Arbitrage. What’s next from our trusted banks - the keepers of our savings? In fact, what happened to that concept? You know the idea that giving your money to a bank for safe-keeping, was actually, you know, safe?

Sixty days ago did you even know what a sub-prime mortgage was? How about arbitrage? It’s a new world. What high-finance demon is lurking out there to scare us next?

So is the glass half empty or half full? So, many questions to start this rant. But, my answer is that the glass is half full and about to get fuller. Because, I have a very safe place for you to deposit your money. Right here at Santa Cruz or Green Valley Harley-Davidson. We’ll take good care of your money. You won’t get it back, but that’s the risk you take with banks, the market, and other assorted hazards out there. So, give it to us. Guaranteed enjoyment; maybe even a sense of enlightenment. Throw in a dash of inner-peace while you’re at it.

Did I mention you can have your paycheck direct deposited with us?

Football Sunday

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Looks like some more good football scheduled for this Sunday. So, we’ll be ready with more beer on ice. And, we’ll throw out some chips and dip again. Swing by Santa Cruz - watch a bit, and shop a bit (or a lot). Our first Rocker C is here, and we’ve still got killer specials throughout the store. Not-the-least-of-which is 1.05% ARP on select 2008 new Harleys (cut to lawyer-voice: OAC, not all applicants will qualify, offer ends soon, blah, blah, blah).

Sunday the Santa Cruz TVs will be tuned to football and cold ones will be on ice. Drop in.

A Little Pick-Me-Up

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

I’m not talking about “mother’s little helper” here. Nor, the higher-caffeine coffee. This is just a reminder, that the Service Departments at Santa Cruz and Green Valley are ready, willin’, and able (for sure 2 out of 3) to pick-up your ride. So, don’t let the rain or cold stop you from making an appointment to get your bike in. We’ll drive all night… Actually, I might be getting carried away here. We’ll drive pretty far, and for FREE this time of year, to fill our technician’s racks. Afterall, they’ve gotta eat too. Jack’s got the truck and trailer all gased up, he’s all caffeinated up and ready to roll. Give Julian or Dan a call today.

Custom Shop Corner - Featured Bike

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

This 2008 Anniversary FXSTC Softail Custom is nearly bone stock. I had to throw it in here because we just uncrated it… and, it’s available with the 1.05% APR financing offer. It’s a clean canvas for you to customize. Of course our guys are ready to help. They’ve got lots of ideas for this one. But, I told them to leave it stock; let’s work with the new owner on their vision. I love this bike. The Softail Custom just has that look. The wide, raked front end. The retro pillow seat that wraps up the sissy bar. The factory apes and that big 200/17 rear tire. The Anniversary paint adds to the classic look. Bedroll on the bars, lady on the back–this bikes goin’ somewhere. Disclaimer: We recognize that it could be bedroll on the bars, guy on the back. Actually, we’ve thought of all sorts of combinations. The common theme remains that bedroll. You fill in the rest of the picture to suit your dream!

1.05% APR - Can That Be Right?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

No typo here. To celebrate the new year, we’re offering 1.05% APR for 36 months with a 10% down payment on select new 2008 Harleys. In some cases, an extended term of 60 months may be available. This financing offer is through Eaglemark Savings Bank on approved credit and as the lawyers insist on us saying, some applicants may not qualify. The offer expires at the end of the month. So, come in to Santa Cruz or Green Valley Harley today to find out more. With 1.05% APR - it’s going to be a happy new year!

Wanted: Dead or Alive, Part 2

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

We’d still prefer alive. We’re putting up a bounty of $250 for every new customer you bring us. We’ve got a couple of customers out their who are thinking of this as the second job I talked about last month. We sold six bikes to lucky friends last month.

So, we figure there are a few more of you out there that might like to put $250 in your pocket. We’re going to do it again - deputizing all of you to be commissioned sales people. It’s a scary, crazy concept but we know that most of our business is referral anyway. So, this is what you’ve been waiting for - get those friends and family members off the couch and down to Santa Cruz or Green Valley.

Rules of the bounty: you must physically bring your friend or family member in; the reward is a $250 gift card at time of purchase; Sportsters excluded; and, there is no limit of how many rewards you can collect between now and 1/31/08.

BTW. We’re keepin’ track. We might turn this into some sort of contest with an even bigger reward. Who knows? Get those friend, throw ‘em in the car, or bitch on the bike, and drag them in here. It might be the easiest $250 you’ve made.
